01

Arrival in Paro – Thimphu Sightseeing

Arrive at Paro International Airport, where you will be welcomed by our representative and driven to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital. The journey takes about 2 hours, covering 60 km, and offers stunning views of the Paro Valley.

On the way, stop at Chuzom, the confluence of the Paro and Thimphu rivers, adorned with three distinct chortens. Nearby is Tachogang Lhakhang, a 15th-century temple built by the great bridge-builder Thangtong Gyalpo.

After lunch, visit Memorial Chorten, a massive stupa dedicated to the Third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, known as the Father of Modern Bhutan. Continue to Simtokha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s oldest fortresses, built in 1629, which now houses a monastic school.

Later, browse through the Authentic Bhutanese Craft Bazaar to see Bhutan's traditional crafts, including textiles, masks, and wood carvings.

In the evening, unwind in Thimphu with the option to explore health clubs offering herbal treatments and massages.

Thimphu Sightseeing – Punakha

Start your day with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, the impressive fortress that houses the King’s office and the monastic body. Built in 1641, it was reconstructed in 1961 without the use of nails, following traditional Bhutanese methods.

Then, visit the National Library, home to ancient manuscripts, and the Institute for Traditional Medicine, where age-old healing practices are still in use. Explore Bhutanese art at the Textile Museum, and visit workshops for mask-making, weaving, and metal crafts.

In the afternoon, drive to Dochula Pass (3050m), where 108 stupas adorn the hilltop. On clear days, enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayan range

03

Punakha – Wangduephodrang – Paro

Visit the grand Punakha Dzong, a fortress built in 1637 at the confluence of the Phochu and Mochu rivers. This dzong, also the winter residence of Bhutan’s monastic body, is a magnificent example of Bhutanese architecture. The fortress is steeped in history, with a legend about its design inspired by a vision from Guru Rinpoche.

Next, hike to Khamsum Yuelley Chorten, perched above the Punakha Valley. This chorten was built by Queen Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck to promote peace, stability, and the well-being of the King.

In Wangduephodrang, visit Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, built in 1639 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Located at the confluence of two rivers, the dzong is known for its mystical aura and the legend of the four ravens that signaled the spread of Buddhism.

Drive back to Paro, passing Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple dedicated to the "Divine Madman," Drukpa Kuenley.

Paro Sightseeing

Drive up to the Drukgyal Dzong, a fortress built in 1647 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to commemorate victories over Tibetan invaders. It was destroyed by fire but has since been lovingly restored. From here, enjoy a stunning view of Mount Jhomolhari, also known as the "Mountain of the Goddess."

Later, visit Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), perched dramatically on a cliffside 3,000 feet above the valley. This revered pilgrimage site was built around the cave where Guru Rinpoche meditated in the 8th century.

Afterward, head to Kichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, built in 659 AD by Tibetan King Srongtsen Gampo, marking the arrival of Buddhism in Bhutan.

Continue your exploration with a visit to Ta Dzong, originally a watchtower and now home to the National Museum of Bhutan. Discover Bhutan’s cultural and ecological history through its six galleries.

How strenuous are the hikes included in the tours?

he hikes included in our tours, such as the hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery, are moderate in difficulty. They require a reasonable level of fitness, but our guides are experienced and can pace the hike to suit the group’s comfort level. If you have concerns, please consult with us before booking.

Is travel insurance required?

Travel insurance is not mandatory for our tours; however, we strongly recommend that all guests arrange their own comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost luggage. Please note that we do not provide travel insurance services.

Do you arrange international flights?

We arrange flights to and from Paro International Airport. For flights beyond Paro, either before or after your tour, guests are responsible for making their own arrangements.

There are no age restrictions for our tours; however, at least one adult must be part of the group. Should I carry cash during the tour?

While Bhutan is gradually expanding its acceptance of credit and debit cards, cash is still recommended for smaller establishments and rural areas where card payments may not be feasible. Having some local currency (Ngultrum) on hand will ensure convenience for such transactions.

Smoking and Tobacco Regulations in Bhutan

Bhutan has strict regulations regarding tobacco use and sales. The Tobacco Control Act of Bhutan 2010 prohibits the cultivation, manufacture, sale, and distribution of tobacco products within the country. However, individuals are allowed to import tobacco products for personal consumption, subject to payment of taxes and duties. It's important to declare any tobacco products upon arrival and retain proof of payment for applicable taxes and duties. Smoking is prohibited in public places, including commercial centers, recreational areas, institutions, public transportation, and other designated non-smoking areas. Designated smoking areas are available in certain establishments. Please note that expenses related to tobacco consumption are not covered under our tour packages.

What type of food will be provided during the tour?

How long does it take to travel between destinations?

Travel times vary depending on the destinations. On average, it can take between 3 to 6 hours by car for intercity transfers. Our tours are designed to ensure comfort during travel, with breaks along the way for scenic stops and refreshments.

How do I make a payment for the tour?

Payments for tours are typically made through wire transfers. Once you book your tour, we will send you the payment details. Bookings are confirmed once the payment is received.

Will there be Wi-Fi during the tour?

Wi-Fi is available in most hotels and accommodations, though it may be limited or slower in more remote areas. We recommend preparing for limited connectivity in certain regions.

What should I pack for my Bhutan trip?

We recommend comfortable clothing for sightseeing and hiking, sturdy shoes for walks, a hat and sunscreen for sun protection, and light layers for varying temperatures. A camera to capture the stunning landscapes is also a must!

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be made in writing via email. Refunds will be processed based on the following schedule:

30 days or more before arrival: No charges.
21-29 days before arrival: 10% of the total tariff.
16-20 days before arrival: 15% of the total tariff.
15 days or less before arrival: No refund.
After arrival in Bhutan: 100% of the total tariff.

No refunds will be provided for no-shows or unused services.

Can I reschedule my tour instead of canceling?

Yes, rescheduling is possible based on availability. Requests must be made at least 30 days before arrival to avoid cancellation fees. Additional charges may apply.

How do I cancel my booking?

When will I receive my refund?

Eligible refunds are processed within 7-14 business days after confirmation. Refunds will be issued via the same method used for payment. It can take up to 30 days before you can see the amount in your bank account.
