Overview
The Jomolhari Base Camp Trek is one of Bhutan’s most rewarding trekking journeys, blending breathtaking alpine scenery with deep cultural immersion. This 14-day adventure takes you through remote valleys, ancient forests, and yak herder settlements, culminating at the foot of the majestic Mount Jomolhari (7,326m)—a sacred peak venerated by locals as the abode of a protective deity. Starting and ending in Paro, the trek follows a scenic route through the Jigme Dorji National Park, home to elusive wildlife such as the blue sheep, Himalayan marmot, and even snow leopards. With well-paced trekking days and a dedicated acclimatization stop at Jangothang (4,115m), the route is ideal for those seeking a moderately strenuous high-altitude experience without crossing extreme mountain passes. Along the way, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of snow-clad peaks, crystal-clear rivers, and open valleys, all while staying in tented camps under starry skies. The journey concludes with cultural sightseeing in Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha, offering a rich contrast to the solitude of the mountains.
